SOUTH AFRICA

Porter Mill Station Sauvignon Blanc 2009,  Malmesbury                      £6.12

Sauvignon  13%

Smooth fruit with characteristic Sauvignon freshness behind.

Lying 140km north of Cape Town in the Coastal region, the Tulbagh Co-operative

produce excellent everyday wines.

The Ruins Organic Pinotage 2008                                                          £7.14

Pinotage  14%   screw-cap

A very approachable easy drinking Pinotage whose organic status ensures

extra care in its production.  screw-cap

Winery note:”This medium-structured Pinotage has a youthful deep red colour with sweet ripe

berry and red and black cherry flavours. The light oak usage contributes to chocolate and coffee flavours.

This follows onto a fresh smooth tannin structure on the mid- and back palate

ensuring a lively persistent finish and making it an ideal “lifestyle” wine for summer luncheons

or everyday enjoyment. Serving suggestion - serve slightly chilled at 18.”

Buiten Blanc 2008/9, Coastal Region, Buitenverwachting                  £7.65

Chenin, Sauvignon      13.5%

Crisp gooseberry Sauvignon with a touch of Chenin softness to balance.

Buitenverwachting meaning “beyond expectation”, lies in the heart of the historical Constantia Valley close to Cape Town. Described in the Platters South African wine bible as “ probably

the classiest small range of wines available in South Africa, wine maker Hermann Kirschbaum makes pure clean wines very much in the famous Europe-meets-New World style.

Well worth trying”.
